The online betting industry finally received some good news late Tuesday night when Representative Barney Frank decided the time was right to move forward with his online gambling regulation discussions.

Frank and his fellow lawmakers will begin discussions on overturning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act on Thursday, December 3rd. The discussion may not lead to any major changes in the immediate future, but they will begin a process.

The rules for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act are set to be published on December 1st, and that is just before the hearing on Frank’s two pieces of legislation for online gambling are to be discussed. Some believe, however, that the implementation of these rules will be delayed until after the new year.

That would give Frank and his online gambling allies the opportunity to pass laws that would regulate the Internet gambling industry. Frank has been opposed to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act since its inception back in late 2006.

As for the online betting industry, they have been waiting for the better part of a year for the new administration in the USA to address the issue of online gambling. The economic conditions have caused lawmakers to steer their efforts in another direction.

If approved, Frank’s online betting legislation would lay the foundation for a regulated Internet USA betting industry.
